Wire-o Binding
ACA made an important decision to augment the traditional bindery processes by adding Wire-O Binding to its portfolio. The diversification started in 2003, but since that time it has gone from strength to strength in a spectacular growth pattern. Having brought in experienced and skilled operators and appropriate start-up kit the Wire-O Binding department has given customers the choice they needed, where previously (in Scotland at least) Wire-O was a one horse race. Since that time, serious progressive investment and departmental expansion has taken place taking ACA to a much higher level in this ever popular process. As well as the everyday jobbing work which is ongoing, ACA can confidently tackle high volume calendar and bookwork often for national distribution. This is made possible due to the investment in new fully automatic equipment for both collation and punching/binding. Because this process is relatively new for ACA we feel that we have everything to prove to both existing and new customers alike. We rise to the challenge on a daily basis and are given opportunities which we value and “grab with both hands?. Because ACA is an integrated print finisher many of our other processes can be utilised to bring the Wire-O bound products to completion all from under the one roof. For example, a quality calendar may require its graphic images to be enhanced by U.V. varnishing, or a manufactures catalogue or service manual may require die cut tabbed dividers to be incorporated all of which is carried out in-house at ACA. Although we prefer to take a Wire-O job from flat printed sheets, to the finished product, there will always be customers who prefer to trim and collate to book blocks for punching and binding only, and we are equally happy to perform on this basis also. Wire-o binding has filled a gap within ACAs finishing operation in recent years and has pushed us closer to being the genuine “one stop shop? in print finishing.
